Tattoo Aftercare
1. ALWAYS KEEP IT CLEAN
Cleaning the area is the most important part of the healing process. Remember to wash your hands before taking care of the tattooed area. Clean the tattoo with mild soap or antiseptic to prevent inflammation. Ideally between 24 to 48 hours remove the protective adhesive film. If using plastic wrap, remove after 4 hours and wash the tattoo with mild soap and cold water. On the first night, I recommend sleeping with the plastic wrap over the tattoo to protect the bed sheets from possible stains. After removing the adhesive or plastic film from the tattoo, sanitize the tattoo, dry it with paper towels. During the bath, when there is no film, avoid very hot water and contact with shampoo or conditioner and never rub the place.
2. USE SUNSCREEN / SUNBLOCK
In the first 30 days, sun exposure is prohibited. Making sure that the tattoo healing process is complete, you can expose the region to the sun as long as you use a high-factor sunscreen, especially on colored tattoos, which are more susceptible in this situation. Apply the product 30 minutes before going out in the sun in everyday situations. If you go to the beach or pool, it is recommended to reapply every hour. A healthy design with vibrant colors depends only on the tattooed following these guidelines during the tattoo healing process. These are simple procedures that, if included in daily activities, end up becoming habits.
3. BE CAREFUL WITH CLOTHES
During the healing period of the tattoo, avoid wearing tight and tight clothing so that the fibers do not rub against the “bruised” skin. The tendency is for the dermis to eliminate some fluids and a little ink, which can make the fabric stick and impair the stabilization of the pigment, in addition to ripping off the "scabs" prematurely. In addition, the tattoo will need to breathe and this type of clothing tends to make it difficult to ventilate the area.
4. KEEP MOISTURIZING
After the crusts disappear, in approximately 10 days, the tattoo will be very dry and will need extra attention. Apply a portion of moisturizing cream or some moisturizing oil to the skin every day until you notice that the skin is fully regenerated. If you want to maintain a beautiful appearance and with vibrant colors, it is recommended to maintain this routine even after healing.
5. USE HEALING PRODUCTS
After proper hygiene, apply a thin layer of healing ointment suitable for tattooing, massaging until it becomes imperceptible. You can repeat the procedure until the "shells" (which should not be removed under any circumstances) form over the tattoo. It is recommended that you apply the product at least 2 times a day for 10 days. The ointment will help prevent the skin from drying out and, consequently, will help the paint to set.
6. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
If your tattoo is composed of lines and dots, after 7 days it is already possible to return to physical activities normally, but as long as there is no friction in the tattooed area and the activity is not too intense to the point of soaking the tattoo with sweat. If your tattoo is filled with paint, the ideal is to stay away from activities for 15 days.
7. SWIMING ON THE POOL, RIVER, LAKE, SEA
If your tattoo is made up of lines and dots, after 10 days it is already possible to tanning in water, but as long as there is no exaggeration, as the skin in this period is only pre-healed. Complete healing takes between 20 and 30 days. If your tattoo has a filling with paint, the ideal is to stay away from tanning in water for 15 days, without exaggeration either. Don`t go soaking the tattoo.
